Empty smiles~

The day before I had scheduled a day of badminton with a couple of friends. First at my school from three o'clock to six o'clock. Then I'd bus to Ella's church to play from seven to ten. It was lots of fun but there was much running involved, which exhausted me completely. Lots of unexpected things happened and we all shared lots of laughs.

When I arrived at ACI at three, I unexpectedly bumped into Iris and John from R.H.King, K.Ng and T.Wong from ACI, and a bunch of Campbell kids plus a couple of ACI Alumni that I never would've imagined seeing. The people I was originally supposed to meet up with were SLo, A.Jin, and Emmy. That day I kept speaking canto to A.Jin through habit but he didn't understand a word I said because he was mando. At one point in time, A.Jin was arguing with Nicola about Ella's church name. Nicola pronounced it S.C.A.C but A.Jin pronounced it as the word "scac". Nicola's argument was that no one pronounces church names as a word but only the initials. A.Jin's argument was that it was faster to say scac and that words had vowels. At the time it was the silliest thing I had ever heard. I only played one real match that day with K.Ng against D.Dai and Jun. Surprisingly, we won even though K.Ng did a lot of the work. I had my moments though. Emmy and I both had secrets of our own that day. Even SLo wasn't completely that happy. We all had our reasons but no one really chooses to show it in public. It was that day that I realized that Emmy had no feelings towards me. Very subtly, I realized that there was no place for me in her heart. But I just kept smiling.

When it was time to leave, we all took the Midland bus to get to our destinations. Emmy, A.Jin, and SLo went out for dinner. I was invited but could not go because I had already made plans prior, that I had no intentions to break. Arriving at Ella's church I ended up playing my very first three set singles game against a York Region player called Frank. I unexpectedly won, but I wasn't really in the mood to jump for joy. Later I played with Ella and her brother. Later on I returned home all battered and soar and jumped straight to bed. The lesson I learned today is that, friends are more important than crushes. Crushes are temporary but friends are forever. So never break plans with friends for a crush.
